In 1994, The LORD led Pastor Carol Rawls Davis to start The Excelsior School and Miracle Early Learning Center. The following year in the month of November, the LORD led Pastor Davis to start Anointed Word Christian Ministries International Incorporated. The dedication service was held at the Atlanta Airport- Marriott Hotel, with seven charter members.
From there, services were held in Pastor Davis’ home in Lithonia, GA. The den served as the sanctuary. Later, AWCMI moved to the mini-mall behind South Dekalb Mall. In 2000, with only a little over 19 members, AWCMI obtained 6.8 acres of land and moved to its current location at 3800 Linecrest Rd. Ellenwood, GA 30294.
There was only a house on the property where the services were held and five modular trailers for the school, until our current facility was built. Now, Anointed Word Christian Ministries International and Anointed Word Christian Schools International/Miracle Early Learning Center are located within the current building.
In January 2009, our beloved Pastor Davis was call home to be with The Lord. Before her passing, Pastor Davis left Dee Jerry Surry to be the interim pastor. For the next two years, the church went through various changes including the changing of pastor and members.
On August 9, 2011, the transition of Pastoral positions occurred. On Sunday, November 14, 2011 Mark Davis was ordained to be the Chief Apostle and Bishop of AWCMI; Chrislyn Markell Davis-Haynes became the Apostle and Pastor; and Christopher Davis became the Chief Elder. Currently they all serve together in keeping the vision of AWCMI and Pastor Davis vision from the LORD alive.
The foundational scripture of AWCMI is Luke 1:17, “…TO MAKE READY A PEOPLE PREPARED FOR THE LORD.”
The vision of AWCSI and MELC is to “RESCUE GOD’S CHILDREN FROM HELL’S FIRE” and “Educating for Eternity”.
Anointed Word Christian Ministry International is living the vision! We are reaching the world for Christ and watching lives change forever! God has been leading our ministry and school in a positive direction. He is ordering our footsteps and guiding us according to WORD. One thing we are doing: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, we are pressing on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus! (Philippians 3:13-14)
